SurfShelf Laptop Stand

I have a treadmill, but I have to drag myself onto it because it’s so boring just walking in place, even though I know it tones my legs and butt.  When I don’t walk I start getting dimples in my thighs.

I found a stand-alone laptop stand (looked like a pole lamp) that I could use on the treadmill, but the price was over $150.  Plus, the stand’s base is a huge steel circle at least 2′ in diameter to keep it from tipping over.

So I went into the garage and found an extra bookshelf shelf.  I laid it across the treadmill’s arms and that worked ok, but I was worried I’d accidentally bump it and there goes my laptop on the floor.

Then I found something called the Surf Shelf latop shelf for under $40.  (I used a $5 coupon and got it for even less.)  It was way smaller than that laptop stand I was looking at.  Plus, it’s portable.  Aside from the straps, it only has two pieces that come apart very easily.

It’s made of high impact polycarbonate and it attaches to the treadmill with adjustable straps.  Plus, it has a Velcro strap for securing my laptop to the shelf so it won’t fall off like it could have with that bookshelf I was using.  So I bought one.  I ordered it on a Monday and it was at my door that Friday.  Here’s what it looks like.

Initially I wanted to use my laptop to read the ebooks that I have and never get to, but with my purchase came access to a free entertainment website where I can watch TV shows like NCIS, Lost, and more, catch up on news and sports and a whole bunch more.

Usually, I walk about 25 minutes around my neighborhood.  That’s about a mile for me.  A TV show without commercials is 45 minutes long.  So I thought I’d watch NCIS with my SurfShelf.  Before I knew it I watched two full episodes while I walked the entire time on my treadmill.  I am sooo hooked on NCIS.

I don’t have to run a marathon or work up a sweat when walking for my legs and butt to benefit.  As long as I’m working those muscles that would otherwise sit in front of the computer all done, I figure I’m doing myself a favor.

Even my grandkids are using it.  They aren’t tall enough to see over the shelf, but they think they’re cool.  LOL
